Power of Attorney

What is a power of attorney?
This is a document that gives a person permission to sign official documents on your behalf.

What can it be used for?
There are many uses but the use of it must be specified at the time of authorising that power. i.e to buy, to sell, to sign a mortgage.

Are there any exceptions?
A power of attorney cannot be used to sign a will.

How can it be done?
An appointment must be made for the power of attorney document to be signed in front of the Notary.

Can it be done in another country or does it have to be in Spain?
Yes it can be done in another country through a resident Notary and we can provide details of how and where it can be obtained.

What if I change my mind?
You can revoke your power of attorney in front of the Notary or alternatively request possession of the document from the person holding it.
